We had a guest last night, my mother’s friend, Trixie, who’s kids I sometimes tutor. We were talking about some jury verdict or other, and she said “I wouldn’t want to be judged by those people, especially not in downtown Brooklyn.”
“Why downtown?” I said, already knowing the answer.
“Because they’re not educated at all and they have no morals. Welfare and criminals, they have children with whoever…”
I exploded.
